CARTHAGE, Mo. – In just two weeks voters in Missouri and Kansas will take to the polls for several issues including local and statewide primaries. Election officials in Jasper County, Missouri are making sure they’re ready to go ahead of the big day by testing their voting machines. Two local residents, one a Democrat and one a Republican, were allowed to run ballots with different markings through the machines to make sure the machines are working properly. Find out more here.
CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. – On Tuesday, Crawford County commissioners discussed the county’s lack of child care options. The county has more than $2 million dollars to add more child care. Commissioners are reviewing six applicants ranging from non-profit organizations to private businesses to fund new facilities. Read more here.
PITTSBURG, Kan. – Some area kids rolled up their sleeves and got to work at Pitt State. The School of Construction at PSU hosted its “construct your future” event. It looks to teach children ages nine to 14 about 3D building, safety, and a variety of other subjects. The event runs through Friday and each session is $100.
NEOSHO, Mo. – Some future teachers can look forward to an easier process as they transfer from one college to another. Crowder College and Missouri Southern held a signing ceremony to cement their new Two Plus Two program. The program aims to create a pathway for teacher education students at Crowder to complete their education at Missouri Southern. Officials say they want the transition from a two-year college to a four-year university to be more seamless. The program intends to add more areas and will also be available online.
